Overview of Financial Aid

For all degree-seeking students, funding through College of the Muscogee Nation is dependent on information from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  The FAFSA information is used to determine your eligibility for federal, state, and institutional grants; federal work study; and the College of the Muscogee Nation Scholarship and/or Tuition Waiver. You can complete your FAFSA by going to the FAFSA website at www.fafsa.ed.gov. College of the Muscogee Nation Scholarship and/or Tuition Waiver Applications (for American Indian students who are enrolled in Federally-recognized tribes) are available both online and in the application packet given to prospective students when they meet with an advisor or representative of the College of the Muscogee Nation. If you have any questions, please contact the Dean of Student Affairs at the College of the Muscogee Nation, at 918-549-2800 or via email at mrandall@muscogeenation-nsn.gov.
Note: Financial assistance is awarded for one academic year at a time (fall, spring and summer). Students must reapply each year. Early application is recommended. Applications for Federal and State aid will be processed through the OSUIT Student Financial Services office. The federal school code is: 003172.

Highlighter

PICK UP SUPPLIES AT OFFICE 119 (THE OFFICE OF THE EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT, DIANA BLACKWELL), BEGINNING APRIL 25 FROM 8:30-11 AM to 1-4 PM

Question:   WILL CMN PAY FOR HOUSING AND MEALS?
Answer:        It depends on how many CMN hours you are enrolled in and whether housing and meals have been paid for by other financial aid (Pell, OTAG, etc.) The CMN Scholarship or CMN Tuition Waiver/Grant may pay the remaining OSUIT bill for housing and meals AFTER all other forms of financial aid grants have been credited, according to the following criteria:

Housing and Meal Plans for full-time (12+hours) CMN Scholarship recipients living on campus as follows:

        1. Students enrolled in 12 or more CMN credit hours          =100%
        2. Students enrolled in 9 to 11 CMN credit hours                  = 75%
        3. Students enrolled in 6 to 8 CMN credit hours = 50%

* course substitutions must be pre-approved by a CMN advisor and the CMN Registrar.

Question:        HOW AND WHEN WILL I GET MY CMN SCHOLARSHIP or CMN TUITION WAIVER/GRANT?
Answer:
Your CMN Scholarship or CMN Tuition Waiver/Grant will be paid to your OSUIT Bursar Account within the first six weeks of the term, if you have done the following:

  1. Filed the current FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov before classes begin (for degree-seeking students) and sent it to School Code 003172 / OSUIT
  2. Completed the:
    1. CMN Scholarship Applicaton or CMN Tuition Waiver/Grant Application
    2. CMN Release of Information Form
    3. OSUIT Bursar Authorization Form
  3. Provided a copy of your tribal citizenship card to your advisor or the CMN Registration Office
  4. Submitted any additional information requested by the OSUIT Student Financial Services Office (i.e. verification forms).

Question:        WHAT AFFECTS THE AMOUNT OF MY CMN SCHOLARSHIP or CMN TUITION WAIVER/GRANT?
Answer:
It depends on three things— 1) your enrollment in credit hours that lead toward a CMN Degree and textbooks required for those courses; 2) whether you live in campus housing (see “Q&A: WILL CMN PAY FOR HOUSING AND MEALS?) and; 3) how much you receive from other financial aid grants (Pell, OTAG, etc.) If you still owe a balance to OSUIT for CMN credit hours after all other forms of financial aid grants have been credited to your OSUIT Bursar account, we (CMN) will pay the CMN Scholarship or Tuition Waiver/Grant funds to your student Bursar account. If you are enrolled in a federally recognized tribe other than the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, the maximum award for the CMN Tuition Waiver/Grant is $1,500 per term. If you have a zero balance on your OSUIT Bursar Account, you may not receive the CMN Scholarship or CMN Tuition Waiver/Grant.

Question:        HOW WILL I GET TEXTBOOKS FOR MY CLASSES?
Answer:
They can be charged to your OSUIT Bursar Account at the OSUIT Bookstore beginning two weeks before the first day of class. You must have your schedule and your OSUIT Student ID. CMN will pay for textbooks that are required on CMN course syllabi for CMN coursework, if a balance remains AFTER other financial aid grants have been applied to your OSUIT Bursar Account.
